Storm Riders Rough Up The Gnaturals

Image
New Lenox, IL - Tuesday night was the first time this year that it felt like fall.  With the weather in the low 60's at game time and an occasional spritz of rain, the Gnaturals took on the Storm Riders in an effort to break a two game losing streak.  The game proved to be entertaining as the game turned into an offensive battle.  Each team scored in all but one inning with Storm Riders coming out swinging to take a 3-1 lead after an inning.  S.R. scored five more runs in the second inning while holding the Gnats scoreless to lead 8-1 after two innings. S.R. continued the barrage scoring four more in their half of the third inning to take a commanding 12-1 lead.  The Gnats were not done yet as they scored six runs in the bottom of the third with the scoring capped off on a Whitehouse bomb off the top of the safety fence in left field to close the score to 12-7 after three.  S.R. kept piling on the runs scoring five times in the fourth inning to take ...

Nik & Ivy Whack The Gnats

New Lenox, IL - After last week's rainout, the Gnats were looking to swarm Nik & Ivy as they took on former teammate Uncle Gary. The game started out promising as the Gnats held Ivy to two runs after three innings while compiling five runs of their own to lead 5-2 heading into the 4th inning.  Gnats were blanked in the top half of the inning while Ivy threw up an eleven spot to take an insurmountable 13-5 lead heading into the 5th.  Gnats scored a single run in the fifth inning while Ivy sealed the game when Biff Maroni slammed a three-run homerun to end the game 16-6.  The Gnats look to get back to .500 next week versus the Storm Riders; game time at 8:30 PM. Noteables: Bee in the Bonnet  - Before the game, a bee was buzzing around Ken's crisp new Gnaturals uniform.  Never knew that a Gnat was good bait for a bee. Uncle Ernie -  Good morning Campers! The night started out rough as Tri Star scored five runs in the top of the first inning to take early control of the game.  The Gnats scored just once in the first frame while holding Tri Star scoreless in the next two innings while tacking on two runs in their second inning and three more in the third for a 6-5 lead after three innings.  Each team scored a run in their respective 4th inning to allow the Gnats a 7-6 lead after four innings. Big #17 hit a two-run bomb in the Tri Star half of the fifth inning over the new right field back-up fence to take a one run lead.  #17 accounted for two Tri Star home runs on the evening.  Gnats scored a run in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 8.  Tr...
