Beggars Top Gnaturals

Image
New Lenox, IL - On a perfect early summer night, the Gnaturals took on first place Beggars in an attempt to narrow the margin in the standings.  The Gnats started the game with nine players as Whitehouse made the mistake of getting on I-80 to travel to the game.  Both teams went scoreless in the first inning before the Gnats took the lead in the top half of the second when Dom scored on a two out double by newcomer, Roberto Kerty for his first lifetime RBI in the Tuesday Men's League.  The run was key as the next batter in the lineup, the unarrived W.H., was an automatic out to end the inning.  Beggars plated seven runs of their own in the bottom of the frame to take a commanding 7-1 lead.  The dough boys added another run in the third to take an 8-1 lead heading into the fourth inning.  The Gnats rallied when Bobby K launched a three-run homer into the right field fence to cut the score to 8-4.  The Gnats added another run when Jeff knocked in...

Scrappers Dump on Gnats

New Lenox, IL - The weather was hot and sticky for the 9:30 night cap at the Lions Den on Tuesday night.  The Gnaturals started the scoring by putting three runs across the plate in the first inning. Scrappers came back with an unearned run in the second inning while the Gnats scored one of their own in the third to lead 4-1 going into the fourth inning.  Things got rough with some defensive lapses as the Scrappers scored five in the bottom of the 4th to take a 6-4 lead.  The Scrappers put another four across in the 5th inning to take a 10 - 4 lead.  Gnaturals were not done as they scored two in the 6th and 7th to close the score to 10 - 8 but that's all that they could muster as the rally fell short.  Every member of the team recorded a hit tonight.  With the loss the Gnaturals fall to 3-4 on the year and into 6th place.  Next week's game is another 9:30PM contest against first place Beggars Pizza. Noteables: Rough Boys - Arik had a rough nig...

Bolingbrook, IL - Welcome to the wedding day special edition of the Lion's Den Gazette!  No game summery here, just a boat load of Noteables. Noteables : Happy Fathers Day out there to all of the Gnaturals family and friends dads, grand dads, great grand dads, godfathers and male role models to the youth of the world. Tailgating Started Early - The Gnaturals did not waste any time getting the wedding party started. Stapes is pictured here two weeks ago during the Ivy League game with a tall boy in his back pocket.  First off, only the tall Stapes would be able to put a 16 oz beer in his back pocket and only have an inch of it sticking out the top.  Secondly, the Gnaturals did not leave the Lion's Den since the Ivy League game until Saturday when it was time to head home or to the hotel to prepare for the wedding. Over By There - Stapes helps give directions to a wedding attender on  how to get to the reception from the Lions Den.  He's seen saying here...
