Second Look at Ivy League vs Gnaturals

Image
Grazie - A big thank you to Mrs. Gazette, Gale, for the live audio on Tuesday night to allow an account of the Ivy/Gnat match.  She did a tremendous job!!! Team, run over there before next week's game and give her a big hug.  That means two from you Sutes.  Jack, we don't care that you claim to not be a hugger, get your ass over there too. Kicker - Thank you to Mike Pratl for hanging the GoPro to the fence to capture a Gnat marquee win.  We do not look a gift horse in the mouth so it will be kindly written that the big blue bucket serves a main purpose, and it is not to carry stuff inside.  Thanks to Jake Koz for helping Pratl get the camera off the fence. Your trademark "huh?" gave you away. Noteables : My Bad - It took all of one batter to scorch a ball up the middle and say "my bad".  Zlogar pitched for the Farmland Shitkickers on Monday night and complained that they sent eight or so balls through the box without one apology. Sweet and Salty - Ko...

Gnats Zap Ivy to Remain In First Place

Image
New Lenox, IL - On a freezing cold early Fall night at the Lion's Den, the action was hot as the Gnaturals hosted Ivy League in a battle to remain in first place.  The game started out with Ivy pushing three runs across in the first half of the inning to put their stamp on the game.  The ink on the stamp did not last long as the Gnats once again blitzed their opponent by putting their first five batters on base in route to a crooked 8 run first inning.  The game tightened up in the second inning as Ivy scored three runs and held the Gnaturals scoreless for a Gnat 8-6 lead after two innings.  Ivy tied the score in the third at 8-8 before Ken and Ryno each provided RBI singles to post a 10-8 Gnat lead after three stanzas.  Ivy was held scoreless in the fourth inning while Pratl and Jamaica produced RBI hits to put the Gnats in a 12-8 lead after four innings. Ivy cut the score to 12-11 before Jack hit an RBI single and Sutes hit a clutch three-run bomb to p...

Blackjack For The Gnats

Image
New Lenox, IL - On a summer like evening with the temps and humidity high, the Gnaturals proved to be more pesty than the swarms of mosquitos buzzing the Lions Den on Tuesday night as Water Chasers became the latest victim of the Gnat fall campaign.  The game started out with a bang as the Gnaturals put their first nine batters on base.  Eight runs were scored before the first out was recorded in the game.  Gnats pushed eleven runs across before Water Chasers could pick up a bat.  The Chasers plated five runs of their own in the first inning to trail 11-5.  The Gnats came back with five runs to lead 16-5 heading into the calamitous bottom of the second innings. The second inning featured many outfield miscues and calliope music as the Gnats allowed six runs in the frame to lead 16-11 after two inning.  The Gnats have not seen a defensive lapse like that since the summer session.  The highlight of the inning was a 7-6-2 putout at the plate of #1...

Standings After Week 5

Image
New Lenox, IL - Updated standings came out from the world's greatest park district.  Gnats on top with two tie-breakers in runs allowed and head-to-head vs. competition.  Interesting that the Gnats only loss is against 1-4 Rhino Sealcoat, hmmmmmmm.  At any rate, Zlogar running for New Lenox Park District President will clean house.  The Gazette believes that with Z as the NL Park District President, the staff would enjoy a yearly pass for range privileges at The Sanctuary.

Gnats Smoke Brew Jays

Image
New Lenox, IL - The Lions Den was buzzing in anticipation of the 6:30PM game for first place honors between the previously unbeaten Brew Jays and the hosting one-loss Gnaturals. The game started inauspiciously as Ryno walked the game's first batter.  Things turned around right away with an MH pop out to first base followed by a 6-3 double play to end the inning harmlessly.  The Gnats caught a flyer coming out of the gate with five straight hits before making their first out.  The fourth hit of the inning was a Suits three run blast to stake the Gnats to a 4-0 lead. Zlogar followed with a one out two-run homer to put the Gnats up 6-0 after one inning. The Gnats held the Jays scoreless in the second while tacking on a run to lead 7-0 after two innings.  Ryno kept the Gnats defense humming along by shutting down the Jays in the third inning while the offense hung up another run to lead 8-0 after three frames.  Jays went down 1-2-3 in the fourth while the Gn...
