New Lenox, IL - The Tuesday night game against Ivy League is postponed due to rain.  Next week's game is Tuesday, November 1st at 7:30 with championship game to follow afterward.   If you are not pictured in this week's Gazette, it means that you were not at optional practice this past Sunday.  Practice this Sunday, October 30th weather permitting at Lions Den at 9:30 am.  Join the team and their new friend, Neighbor Bob for coffee and donuts as we present the friendly man with a case of Bud Light. Noteables: A Little Better - Seems like Jack doesn't value this vehicle as much as "The Great Mustang".  For my money, that other space IS a parking spot and you'd be better served parking six inches on the grass to get yourself some space from the jag parked in the spot just north of it........which is where Jack is currently parked.   Perfect Day - The Gnatural Six showed up at the Lions Den this past Sunday to hold an optional practice.  Old ...

Who's Next?

Image
New Lenox, IL - The weather was more reminiscent of snowball fight weather than a softball game on Tuesday as the Gnaturals hosted the Demon Deacons in the first round of the playoffs.  The winds were howling straight in from left field, which made every fly ball an adventure.  The Demons took a brief lead in the top of the first when their leadoff hitter Ricardo Ringer slashed a triple and would score on an infield pop out SAC fly.  The next batter singled and it was pretty much "game over" from there as the cleanup hitter rapped into a 5-4-3 double play to end the inning.  The Gnats put the first eleven players on base before the first out was recorded on a Pratl 2 RBI SAC fly to left field. After one inning, the Gnats held a 13 to 1 advantage. Demons went scoreless in the 2nd inning while the Gnats added two runs to lead 15-1 heading into the 3rd.  Demons picked up another tally while the Gnats put up a three spot to lead 18-2 after three frames....

Rain Delay Theater

Image
New Lenox, IL - Ahhhhhh, the good old days when baseball broadcasters would vamp for an hour during a rain delay and show you the 1974 World Series highlights between the A's and the Dodgers so you could relive the Joe Ferguson throw on a Reggie Jackson would-be SAC fly to hose Sal Bando at the plate as you were waiting on the fate of your last place Cubs or White Sox meaningless game to be played or not. Allow us the pleasure of taking you back 48 years for a classic World Series moment as described by a classic broadcasting crew.  Click here  to take a walk down memory lane.  And no, the laughter at the 14 second mark is not Uncle Gary although you'd swear it was him.  As far as the Gnaturals, there was some mild debate among Gnaturals as to whether do a rain dance or not for tonight's game.  Some want to play today to keep momentum going and try to beat up on the Demons for the second week in a row and the third time this year.  Others don't want ...

Gnaturals Capture Regular Season Title

Image
New Lenox, IL - Heading into Tuesday's action, the Gnaturals had fate in their own hands as a win versus the Demons would assure the team of their first regular season title in its existence.  Some of the tension was taken away in the preceding game as Ivy League knocked off the Brew Jays 19 -16 in an oddly ending game which will be discussed in the Noteables section.  That didn't stop the Gnaturals from taking care of their own business as they held the Demons scoreless in the first inning while throwing up a nine spot to lead 9-0.  The Demons were resilient as they put a combination of clean hits and Gnat miscues together to plate nine runs to tie the game at 9 heading into the bottom of the second inning.  The Gnats answered back with 14 runs to pull ahead 23-9 after two innings and break the spirit of the Demons. Each team tacked on a run in the third inning to continue the 14 run margin.  The Demons went quietly in the fourth inning to allow Matt Sutor the ...
