Volts Knock Off Ivy League

Image
New Lenox, IL - On Canada Wild Fire Night at the Lions Den, High Voltage finished up the regular season against Ivy League in what was a battle for 2nd place honors and a chance to take on Son's of Pitches in game 1 of the playoffs.  The Volts started out hot by recording five consecutive hits followed by a Pratl homerun to take charge 6-0 after a half inning. Ivy League came back with three runs to cut the score in half 6-3 after an inning. The Volts pushed a run across in the 2nd inning when Zlogar doubled home Stapes to make the score 7-3. That lead held up as Ivy did not score in their half of the inning.  The Volts continued in the 3rd inning when the bottom of the order did all of the damage by scoring four runs with two of them coming when Foster hit a two run single to score Jamaica and Jeff. Arik scored while running for Ken on a Jack RBI single and Foster came home on a Koz RBI knock to build the lead to 11-3, and that lead held up as Ivy went 1-2-3 in the bo...

Volts Cruise Past Sons of Pitches

New Lenox, IL - On International Jersey Night, High Voltage looked to get back on the winning track against week 1 opponent Sons of Pitches. The game started out a bit slow as if the boys took a collective team nap prior to the start of the 9:30 matchup. Sons jumped to a quick three run lead in the top of the 1st inning on a walk, hit, and Mad Dog McGraw homerun but the Volts came back with two of their own in a much different fashion.  After a Koz double and Stapes RBI single, the Sons pitcher walked three consecutive batters to force in a run and Arik With An A RBI. With the Volts chasing 3-2 after an inning, the Sons went scoreless in the next inning while the hometown heroes pushed three runs across on RBI's by Koz, Zlogar, and Pratl to take a 5-3 lead after 2 innings. The good times continued into the third inning as Sons went scoreless again and the Volts began to distance themselves from their pesty rival. High Voltage scored seven runs in the bottom of the third on ...

High Voltage Split DH in the Rain

New Lenox, IL - On a soggy and cold night more befitting of Trick or Treat weather, High Voltage played a double-header against two of the league's top foes, Alcoballic's and Brew Jays and ended up splitting the pair of games. Game 1 against Alcoballic's was a see-saw thriller that saw both teams trade leads before some last inning heroics settled the outcome in a combined 36 run effort.  Alcoballic's roared out of the gate by hitting two homeruns and scoring six runs in the top of the 1st inning. High Voltage answered back in the bottom of the frame by taking advantage of atrocious Alcoballic's defense to post five runs, and trail 6-5 after an inning. The Alc's packed on five runs of their own in the top of the 2nd inning on the strength of their third and final allowed homerun to put the Volts back into a six run hole.  The Volts answered back by scoring four runs on the strength of a Sutes two run blast to trail 11-9 after two innings.  The Alc's went ...
