White Horse Hurdles High Voltage

Image
New Lenox, IL - With a win under their belt in the opening round of the playoffs, High Voltage set to go deeper in the playoffs with a match against White Horse on Tuesday night.  It was a picture perfect late October evening with a game time temperature of 79 degrees.  Soon to be retiring WGN weatherman, Tom Skilling, was on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch and to provide the game time temps before hightailing it out for the 10PM broadcast. The game changed on the first at-bat as Cap'n Jack legged out a double to open the game but he injured his quadricep muscle and was gimpy the remainder of the evening and held out on defense. Koz knocked in the pinch runner Jamaica to put the Volts on the board first. Pratl would later knock in Stapes on a SAC fly with Jeff following with an RBI double to plate Sutes who had previously doubled. With the Volts up 3-0 after a half inning, White Horse scored with their top four batters to take the lead 4-3 after an inning....

Volts Rub Ivy From Playoffs

New Lenox, IL - There is never a dull moment when High Voltage and Ivy League meet, and yesterday was no exception as this time the stakes were bragging rights for the remainder of the long winter and moving on to the next round in the playoffs.  Game time temps started out in the 60's but quickly dropped to brisk conditions although the action was hot. The visiting Ivy got the action rolling by putting two runners on base with one out until The Great Marone rapped into a 6-4-3 double play to quickly end the inning and give the Volts early momentum. Jack started the attack with a leadoff double and quickly scored on a Koz RBI triple. Pratl would later knock in Koz on a one out fielders choice. Two walks ensued by Jeff and Scotch before Escobar Zlogar's two out, two run single capped the scoring with HV leading 4-0 after an inning. Ivy chipped away at the lead with a two spot in their half of the second inning.  With the Volts batting and leading 4-2, Jack started ...

Beggars Handles High Voltage

New Lenox, IL - On a night where the Fall League actually felt like a fall game because of the cooler weather conditions, High Voltage and Beggars squared off for the honors of taking 3rd place in the Tuesday league.  The game started out looking good for the Volts. Koz, leading off the game (more on that in the Notables), opened the Volt hitting with a legit single that turned into a little league triple. Stapes followed with an RBI single and Sutes with an RBI triple to put the Volts on top 2-0. Sutes later scored on a Zlogar fielders choice RBI to put the home team up 3-0. With one out and two runners in scoring position, Jeff delivered a sharp 2 RBI single to put the Volts up 5-0 after a half inning of play. After opening the bottom of the inning with singles from Billy Mouth and Lefty Black, Beggars appeared to be poised for a big opening inning until Ken had something to say about that. The third hitter grounded sharply to Ohm's Law, who would step on third for the fo...
