Dog Days of Summer

New Lenox, IL -  Some rando thoughts on things in no particular order.  Thanks to Jack for the title.

By The Numbers - High Voltage was the class of the field heading into the playoffs but bad luck or fate had the team finishing in third place during the regular season.  Everything panned out like it should by the numbers except the Ivy win over BJ.  It does make sense when we all know, if you've ever read a playoff edition of the Gazette, that BJ struggles in its first playoff game.  Don't know why that is but they've underperformed their record nearly every "first playoff game" and in fact have lost some upsets in the process.  HV ended up with the most wins at 10, tied for the least losses at 3,best winning percentage at .769, most runs scored per game 15.31, and fewest runs allowed per game 7.77.  Folks, when you are statistically ahead at the end of the year in each category, you should be holding the championship trophy,  In this case, I believe that you all (players) are going to have to pay for a trophy because the league is too cheap to provide one for the playoff winner.  Heater Buggins and I agree that if Captain Jack has not already ordered one, he is currently shopping for a big old trophy.

Weather Report - Hurricane Debby was screaming inward and on a collision course with Illinois until it was determined that our Deb spells her name Debbie.  As things go, the storm fizzled out into a tropical storm and is now getting blown off the eastern seaboard in the next couple of days.  Nobody has a better graphics department than the Gazette.  Thank you to Nicole Madasewsky for the work.
Thank you to all of the pets who come to the game or comfort us on a daily basis.  These were going to go into a Doggie Gazette but we'll put them here and again as folks send pics in the future.

Hit By a............ - dozen cans of Miller Lite.  It was a long night at the Lion's Den on Tuesday and the offices of the Gazette were ramshackled by an army of Miller Lite cans.  When the editor in chief woke up from the beating, he was in good order and shot out; "we have to get some better security around here".
Message To Our Favorite - Dear Lauren, Lauren I, The Kid, The Plucky One, we finally did it!!!  Drink up!!!  Let's celebrate!!!  Almost ten years since the start of the softball team began from its humble beginnings, and in it's 19th season, it's finally been accomplished.  We got a Schoenhofen off the field.  We are finally under the 20% Schoenhofen threshold that you said it would take to win in this league and nobody had to get hurt or die.  With your data savvy and knowledge of what it takes to win, you could have made big money working on the staff of the Gazette.  We understand the noble choice that you made to help better serve the world.  See you one day soon at the ballpark.  Congratulations on passing your CCCN Exam!  Go get em girl!!!
