The Day After

Image
New Lenox, IL - The day after Koz's "Shot Heard Round the World", we are all left to wonder; WHY DIDN'T ANYONE KNOW THE SCORE OF THE GAME?  The Village of New Lenox does a great job of keeping its visitors and residents safe, has a lot of commerce and supports local businesses, does a great job fiscally for its citizens, and even kicks back residents a large percentage of their local property taxes.  What they are not good at is providing a scoreboard for Lion's Den players and fans to actually know what the hell is going on.  The scoreboard has never been used when rain is in the forecast and as of this year, has not been used since week 1.  Hey Village of New Lenox, take a couple of bucks from each of our 2021 rebates and build a professional looking scoreboard at the Lion's Den!!!  I mean, a Vegas style scoreboard that will keep us up to date and entertained.  Advertise on the f&$^ing thing if you want.  Just give us a scoreboard that is VISIBLE...

Koz "Slams" The Door on Tri-Star

Image
New Lenox, IL - On a warm and breezy evening at the Lion's Den, the Master Batters treated a standing room crowd to one of its greatest victories in team history.  After a back and forth 4 1/2 innings, MB entered the bottom of the 5th inning with a 9-8 lead over Tri-Star.  MB strung together nine hits to bring Jake Koz to the plate 2/3rds full of Schoenhofens and Kerty with a 15-8 lead.  Koz took the first pitch over the right center field wall to walk off the win for the Master Batters over their previously undefeated rival Tri-Star 19-8.  As the umpires called the game on run rule, Koz was heard saying "I didn't know we were that close to ending the game".  Captain Jack provided a post-game quote from his palatial MB office; "That walkoff grand slam goes right to the top as one of the biggest hits in Master Batters history.. and you can quote me on that".  Master Batters move their record to 3-1 and are now tied for 2nd place in the Tuesday league.  ...

Scrappers Crush Master Batters

Image
New Lenox, IL - On a warm and drizzly evening, the Scrappers handed the Master Batters their first loss of the season in convincing style.  The night started out hopeful enough for MB when they scored four runs in the top of the first inning.  Those hopes were soon dashed when the Scrappers put their first eight men on base in the bottom of the frame to answer back with 7 runs of their own to seize control of the game early.  Scrappers never relented, tacking on five runs in the 2nd inning and six more in the 3rd before pushing home three runs in the bottom of the 4th to bring the game to a merciful ending.  After the hot start, Master Batters were only able to score two more runs in the top of the third to eventually fall 21 - 6 to The Scrappers.  MB lineup was missing a key member when Whitehouse was scratched hours before game time.  Next game is on 5/25 at 7:30 when MB tries to get on track by cleaning Tri-Star's cabinets. Noteables: No Schilling - It...

Welcome to Uncle Gary's Holiday Camp

Image
New Lenox, IL - On a chilly sun soaked evening, the Master Batters soundly defeated Hammered 17-2 to remain undefeated in the Tuesday night men's league.  Hammered scored two runs in the top of the first inning and never saw home plate again as MB went on a 17-0 run over the next four innings to complete the speedy run-rule game.  MB had solid pitching with Uncle Gary giving up his first two runs of the year, backed by solid defense to shut things down. Everyone contributed to the hit parade as MB tacked on runs in each of the four innings to run away and hide with the last run of the game scored by Cap'n Jack on a tag from third base. Game time next Tuesday is at 7:30 PM against The Scrappers. Notables: Give Me Two Steps - Ken said out loud to himself as a base hit whizzed by him in the first inning. Broken Glass - Gary gave up his first run of the year after last week's shutout.  His ERA ballooned to 1 after tonight's game. Terry Bevington II - On a deep fly to ...

5/11/2021 Game Preview New Lenox, IL - The Master Batters had a mixed bag of seasons last year with the fall campaign being the more successful of the two.  MB made the post season in the fall and were eliminated by tomorrow night's opponents, Hammered in heartbreaking fashion.  Hammered rallied in the bottom of the 7th to send MB packing for the winter.  Captain Jack is looking for some revenge in tomorrow evening's tilt against their rival.  Look for some extra eye black from the flashy left fielder as he will put the chip on MB's shoulder to try and avenge last year's tough exit.  With both teams coming into the game at 1-0, this is an important early season game for position in the standings. Game time is at 6:30 PM, which will leave plenty of time for the working crowd to tailgate afterward. Noteables: Ricky Bobby - Cap'n Jack is relishing being undefeated in the early going saying that it's good to be sitting atop the standings.  He was heard sa...
