Welcome to Uncle Gary's Holiday Camp
New Lenox, IL - On a chilly sun soaked evening, the Master Batters soundly defeated Hammered 17-2 to remain undefeated in the Tuesday night men's league. Hammered scored two runs in the top of the first inning and never saw home plate again as MB went on a 17-0 run over the next four innings to complete the speedy run-rule game. MB had solid pitching with Uncle Gary giving up his first two runs of the year, backed by solid defense to shut things down. Everyone contributed to the hit parade as MB tacked on runs in each of the four innings to run away and hide with the last run of the game scored by Cap'n Jack on a tag from third base. Game time next Tuesday is at 7:30 PM against The Scrappers.
Notables:
Give Me Two Steps - Ken said out loud to himself as a base hit whizzed by him in the first inning.
Broken Glass - Gary gave up his first run of the year after last week's shutout. His ERA ballooned to 1 after tonight's game.
Terry Bevington II - On a deep fly to the outfield, Ken yelled to Jack who was on 1st base at the time to "Tag up, tag up, tag up!!!". Jack went halfway to second and returned to first thinking that Ken said "Take it, take it, take it". Deposit to the kangaroo court please.
Hans Solo - Koz whacked a solo homer in the bottom of the first, following Stapes two-run shot. Deposit II to the kangaroo court.
Milestone - That solo shot was Koz's 40th lifetime homerun for the Master Batters.
Squeaky - Kerty's new glove was heard squeaking all the way to the infield box seats.
Cannon - Hammered left fielder had a fire hose out there and nearly threw out Zlogar in the 2nd inning trying to score on a single. Zlogs cartoon character stop and slick slide safely into third base would make Fred Flintstone proud.
Poison Ivy - Jack ran the third out of the 4th inning down near the weeds and followed through into the bushes for what would be the final out of Hammered' s night.
SAC' d - MB recorded four SAC flies for a total of five runs scored. The Schoenhofen boys both jetted home on a deep fly to right center on the same Ka-Koz deep flyball in the 2nd inning.
Conditions - Kerty filled in tonight for Ryno but it came with a cost. Lauren (seen below) paid the price when she picked up a new friend for the evening. We surmise that given Ballou's separation anxiety that Kerty works from home.
Ain't That Some Shit - After this reporter texted the Cap'n asking for Bag's cell number, Jack promptly sent me the number with "He almost never responds to texts". After reaching out to Bag's and having him instantly answer my text, I realize that he almost never responds to "Jack's" texts. Sorry Cap'n.
