High Voltage Summer 2024 Champions!

  New Lenox, IL - It's been a long time coming for the team that started in this league in 2015.  Dozens of players and non-players who were called into action have taken at-bats for the Master Batters, Gnaturals, and High Voltage. Last night was the night that everything came together and High Voltage got over the hump to win its first championship in the team's 19th season. The first game of the evening pitted the #3 seeded Volts against last year's Summer League champions #2 seeded Chuck's.  The game was nip and tuck all game long until Chuck's rolled a five-spot in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 15-12 lead over the Volts.  High Voltage has seen this movie many times in the past and has gone out quietly to end the season without ever having gotten a chance to play in the finals.  This year seemed no exception with the Volts making two outs in the first three batters in the top of their final inning.  The tide changed with a runner on first whe...

Volts Fall to Paradise Bay

  New Lenox, IL - August 5th shaped up to be the last three games played on Tuesday at the Lions Den before action moves over to Wintrust Crossroads Sports Complex of New Lenox.  That is a mouthful. Paradise Bay visited the Volts in the 2025 Summer rubber game match as the latter was seeking their third consecutive league championship.  The game started out like the ump was going to run out of softballs and the official scorer was going to run out of ink and paper as Paradise opened up with a five run first inning, to be followed by a Volts eleven run barrage.  That's where the game calmed down and the power went out and the home team's bats went Low Voltage.  Bay scored four times in the second inning and held the Volts scoreless to cut the lead to 11-9.  Bay scored a single run in the third and fourth innings while shutting down the Volts on ground ball double plays in each frame to tie the game at 11.  Bay went scoreless in the 5th inning and the Vo...

White Horse Hurdles High Voltage

  New Lenox, IL - With a win under their belt in the opening round of the playoffs, High Voltage set to go deeper in the playoffs with a match against White Horse on Tuesday night.  It was a picture perfect late October evening with a game time temperature of 79 degrees.  Soon to be retiring WGN weatherman, Tom Skilling, was on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch and to provide the game time temps before hightailing it out for the 10PM broadcast. The game changed on the first at-bat as Cap'n Jack legged out a double to open the game but he injured his quadricep muscle and was gimpy the remainder of the evening and held out on defense. Koz knocked in the pinch runner Jamaica to put the Volts on the board first. Pratl would later knock in Stapes on a SAC fly with Jeff following with an RBI double to plate Sutes who had previously doubled. With the Volts up 3-0 after a half inning, White Horse scored with their top four batters to take the lead 4-3 after an inning....
