Brew Jays Swat Gnaturals
New Lenox, IL - The Lions Den was not a friendly place for the Gnaturals on Tuesday evening as they squared off against the previously winless Brew Jays. With temperatures in the low 50's with the wind blowing out and the infield dirt being stirred up in powder-like fashion, the Gnaturals had the unenviable task of trying to keep the Brew Jays off the win column. After the Gnats went quietly in the top half of the first inning, the Jays put up an 8 spot to put a stranglehold on the game. The second inning wasn't much better as the Jays scored nine more runs in route to a 17 - 2 run-rule shortened beating. On the positive side, the Gnats and Brew Jays are both tied with 1-2 records in the NLMSL. Game time on 5/31 is at 6:30PM vs Hammered. These two teams have had some storied games over the past several regular and post seasons so come out to the ballpark to support your local heroes. Weather is expected to be summer like.
Noteables:
Yosh Kawano - What was the Ivy League equipment manager thinking when he allowed this to happen? The Scenery - Ken, vacationing on an Alaskan cruise, quipped on social media before the game that "the scenery around here sucks". No shit. It's a snow covered rock, what did you expect?
Wet Newspaper - Is the sound that Pratl's bat made in a first inning flyout. There's a suspicion that two balls were being used last night, humidified for the Gnats and non-humidified for Jays at-bats.
Fan of the Evening - Mrs. Pratl. You boys should all give her a big hug during next week's game as she was cheering hard for each and every one of you.
Nice Toss - After striking out in his first at-bat, Zlogar launched his bat over the team's third base dugout. Not so oddly, the toss went farther than any ball he hit last night.
Blink 8 17 - After a brief trip to the parking lot with the Gnats trailing 8-0, our beat reporter came back less than 10 minutes later and the Jays had scored another nine runs for a quick 17.
Pro Guy - Jimmy Bling, shown below, asked a Gnatural for the rules as he indicated that he was taking a step down in class to play in the Tuesday Men's League. He may have had a fine night but other than his silver Marti Gras chain, nobody remembers anything he did on the field. BTW, he was the catcher so how pro could he be???
Spider Tack - Ump, Kevin Hustle, checked Ryno as he came off the field after the 3rd inning for sticky substance. Kevin should have checked the Brew Jay bats for cork and super balls instead.
Jack Trapper - Another light moment occurred with the Gnats on defense. After trapping a ball in left field and the runner being called safe, Jack continued to sell his wares by trotting nearly to the skin of the infield trying to sell an out. Next time toss the ball to the pitcher as you are entering the dugout for a better sell.
Hi mom - Here's a picture of the groom and his best man.
Citizens Arrest - Koz had this attached to his car on the way out of the parking lot yesterday evening. Smells like Arik With An A or maybe Zlogar. If this is really from a concerned citizen, this is truly some funny stuff.
Cheers - Ken made this toast to the team from the rocky shores of the Alaskan Coast.
Note: Look for a special addition of Lauren/Jack wedding recap. If you have a submission for the occasion, drop us a written note (or picture) at any time leading up to the wedding or at the reception to be included in the Wedding Gazette Extravaganza!!!
