Gnaturals Rumble Past Storm Riders

New Lenox, IL - The Lions Den was the setting for a wild scene this evening as the action outside the chalk was equally as good as what was played on the field.  The Storm Riders hosted the Gnaturals on a chilly evening as both teams were looking to get back to the .500 mark.  The game started out innocent enough with both teams peppering each other with some runs here and there.  The score was 11-7 entering the 5th inning when things got interesting.  Storm Riders catcher, Pudge Fish, was chirping to the Gnats all night long and that's when Arik With An A had enough and along with Jack, almost caused a bench clearing brawl.  Nobody is sure what was said between the potential combatants but the softball game nearly turned into a Hockey game of the 90's when cooler heads prevailed.  Later that inning, Jeff collided with the Riders third baseman, Will Smelton, which nearly tipped things off again.  As the third baseman was arguing for interference, the defensive pair of Arik With An A and Jack "stormed" the field looking to cross-check someone.  Luckily, cooler heads once again prevailed and the game continued from there with the Gnats scoring eight runs in the frame to take a commanding lead.  The Gnats plated a few more runs in the next inning to put the game away 22-9.  Next week the Gnaturals host the Brew Jays in a 7;30 PM matchup.

Noteables:

Mendoza Line- Congratulations to Ken for getting hit #200 in the last inning of tonight's game.  Ken joins Jack and former Gnat, Koz, in the 200 hit club.

Green Light - Lauren, you have everyone but Jack's permission to touch that thermostat.  Gazette medical columnist Dr. Marcus Welby, said that Jack's irritability on the diamond tonight may be caused by extreme temperature swings in the home due to lack of proper settings on the thermostat.

Holding Their Breath - It took a while, but both the Gnaturals and Storm Riders came over to shake each other's hands after the game had ended.

Pulling The G - Not the goalie in this instance, the groin.  Jack pulled his groin in the first inning of tonight's game and was at 40% after that but continued to play the game.

Bet On Jack - Uncle Gary heard that Jack had pulled his groin and was in serious pain, thus challenging the Gnat left fielder to a race.  There is no distance that Uncle G would beat Jack at unless the later tied his feet together and hopped.

Trifecta - This picture says a lot.  Jack is picking up his bat looking to go over to the Storm Rider bench and give them an attitude adjustment.  Arik is smiling at teammate Jack for becoming the team enforcer, a job once held by With An A.  Ken, looks up to the rafters for the hair follicles missing from the top of his head.  Hint: They're not up there.

Non Intentional Walk - The Storm Riders wanted to walk Ry in the 5th inning of tonight's game to load the bases for gimpy Jack.  The pitcher did not adhere to his teammate's request and promptly gave up a three-run line shot that Ryno deposited over the fence.
