High Voltage Singe Beggars Late

Image
New Lenox, IL - It's been a couple of weeks since High Voltage took the field after a bye last week and a loss to the Brew Jays on May 16th.  The visiting High Voltage came back to the surface of Mars attempting a regular season series sweep against Beggars, who had revenge on their minds. The Volts knocked the rust off early scoring four runs in the top half of the first inning with a newly tailored lineup featuring D. Jamaica leading off and El Capitan' batting in the seventh slot. It took all of three pitches for Jamaica to secure a leadoff walk.  Koz followed with a single to set up Stapes three run homer to put the good guys ahead 3-0 after three batters.  Sutes followed with a solo home run (insert sad trombone music here) to put the Volts up 4-0 four batters into the game.  The defense held Beggars to just two runs in the bottom half of the second inning on just one hit and three Ryno issued base on balls. Things kept chugging along with each team scor...

Jays Humble High Voltage

New Lenox, IL - You win as a team and you lose as a team.  High Voltage came into the game with a 3-0 record against 1-1 Brew Jays. The game started out well with HV shutting down the Jays in the top half of the first inning while scoring seven runs in the bottom half of the inning to lead 7-0 early. Brew Jays threatened in the 2nd inning but only pushed two runs across while HV scored three runs to extend to a 10-2 lead.  Jays then busted out for seven runs of their own while HV went scoreless to tighten the game at 10-9 heading into the 4th inning. Each team swapped a five spot in the 4th inning with HV holding a narrow 15-14 edge going into the fateful 5th inning.  Jays scored nine runs in an inning that looked like a pre-2022 type effort of giving the opponent extra outs on defensive misplays. Jays lead 23-17 after 5 innings and were able to tack on two more runs in the 6th while shutting out High Voltage in the next two innings for a 25-17 Jays victory in a p...

Let's Play Two!

New Lenox, IL - High Voltage played their first regular season scheduled doubleheader last night against two of the leagues top teams.  When all was said and done, HV came out on top in a run rule first game against Ivy League 19-9, and a nightcap victory over Beggars 17-5. The Ivy League game started with High Voltage putting up six runs in the bottom half of the 1st to lead by a commanding 6-1 after one inning.  The teams traded a run in the 2nd inning before Ivy scored three runs, followed by two for HV to end the inning with the Sparks leading 9-5.  This is normally the point in the game when HV stops scoring runs and lets their opponents back into the game but tonight was an exception.  HV shut the door on Ivy in the top of the 4th while scoring three runs in their half to lead 12-5. Ivy made a brief rally by scoring four in the top of the 5th inning to trail 12-9 before the "walk" off heroics happened in the bottom half of the frame.  Ken led off the inni...

High Voltage 18 Sons of Pitches 1

New Lenox, IL - Energy levels were at an all-time high as game time approached the 6:30 league opener.  Ryno spent the afternoon talking trash to old men in the parking lot of Badda Bing's and pushing blue hairs every which way in the aisles of Berkots as he got psyched up to defend the regular season title and get a head start on the 2023 Championship.  Pratl was even spotted kicking dirt on a car in the parking lot of Randall Matuszewski D.D. but later left an apology note on a five dollar bill jammed under the front wiper for the good doctor to get a car wash.  High Voltage was amped up at The Lions Den on Tuesday evening on a 50 degree night with high winds and a real feel of 35.  The visitors rolled box cars in the first inning to take command of the contest and never look back. HV added single runs in the second and third inning before ending the night with four runs in the top of the fourth inning highlighted by a Koz three-run shot into the face of a ...
