Volts Go Back-to-Back for Second Title

Image
New Lenox, IL - High Voltage started the playoffs in defense of their summer crown against tough luck Off the Rails who have been a much better team than the record would indicate.  The game would go down as one of the most memorable playoff matches in Lions Den history with both teams putting on their offensive shoes and having an absolute slugfest.  After making the first out on one pitch, the Rails blasted off with an eleven run blitzkrieg to put in a statement that the Volts would be in a fight all night long.  The Volts placed the first five runners on base and would answer back with six runs while batting around the order.  Volts hit two homeruns in the process, which is not that great, but a far cry from last week when they shot all of their cannons with none out in the first.  High Voltage made a key stop in the second inning to briefly throw some water on the red hot Rails bats and hold them scoreless.  Volts once again batted ten men in ro...

Volts Deliver Win Over Beggars

Image
New Lenox, IL - The night started out with a potential battle for first place between the Brew Jays and Beggars but turned into something much different when Paradise Bay beat the Jays in the middle game of the evening.  That meant that the Beggar/Volt game was for all of the marbles in the regular season finale.  The game did not disappoint as each team scored in their first five at bats and would trade leads all night long.  The game began with Beggars posting seven runs to storm out of the gate and take early command.  The Volts responded with a nine run inning to take the lead, but had a bit of an issue.  The Volts slugged back-to-back-to-back homeruns and were out of that precious commodity without a single out being recorded. Beggars tied the game up at nine with a couple of runs in their half of the second inning with the Volts pushing one across to lead 10-9 after two. Beggars volleyed three in the third to take a 12-10 lead but the Volts would m...

Volts Stay On Track

New Lenox, IL - High Voltage took on Off the Rails Tuesday evening looking to extend their win streak to three games in the 24' Fall League and remain in a tie for first place.  The night didn't last very long as the Volts stormed for 11 runs in the first inning to take command of the game after Rails put up two runs in the top of the inning.  The first eight batters hit safely before the first out was recorded.  Trailing 11-2, Off the Rails scored two more times to cut the margin to seven runs. The Volts nearly batted around again in the second inning to score four runs and lead 15-4. The Rails rolled a two again to make the score 15-6 but High Voltage tore off another six runs to lead 21-6 after three innings.  The Rails scored one last time in the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 14 runs, which meant that the Volts only needed a single tally to end the game if ahead by 15 runs after four innings.  The Volts did just that, and recorded a run on a Ry...
