High Voltage Defeat Rendels???

 



New Lenox, IL - High Voltage took on Rendels on a steamy Tuesday evening.  All we can tell you by the game account from Nurse Ratched is that it was quick and High Voltage won the contest.  Next week is the final regular season game ever at the Lions Den when High Voltage take on Paradise Bay in the finale at 9:30 PM.  Anyone bringing power tools to the game can take apart things and bring them home as souvenirs.

Bottom of the first and the Schoenhofen’s are already dropping the ball.. young Jeff attempted to be cool at second and toss the ball behind his back, unfortunately letting Ronald McDonald score.

A large man hoping to appear as a jack-o-lantern is his fluorescent orange is attempting to fill in for the wonderful and famous Mr. Koz on the books. Just a heads up Ken… repeating the same thing 12 times in a row doesn’t make it any more true… just more annoying for us on the sidelines.

An OG member of the team “Ryno” has still not committed to a team jersey after 11 years! But still repping our queen Kathy in his pink so we’ll allow it. Although, with so many layers on he may need to be wheeled out on a stretcher. “I didn’t bring my inhaler and I’m dying. If I drop you know why” Good thing the nurse showed up for her annual one game appearance this week.

If anyone is interested in a new workout regime- “Captain” Jack’s classic high knees and butt kicks are great for the physique and flexibility.

“Hey shooter most D teams haven’t lost sight in your league” -ump little passive aggressive after high voltage questioned a very foul ball 

 

Shane is it? Sir it’s July and not halloween, get a jersey and represent your team.

Well that game was over about as fast as it started. Don’t blink, you’ll miss high voltage winning yet again. Tell me- does every other team hate you guys? Anyway, thanks for the take over Mr. Blatzo you can send my commission check to Mukwonago, WI! See y’all next year.

Check is in the Mail - Thanks to Thee Plucky One for writing 95% of this week's Gazette!  It must be mentioned again that the Nurse who is too tough to tame, had two escorts at Jack/Lauren II's wedding reception walk-up.










Lions Den Top 5 - In October of 2023, the Volts took on the winless Daytona Turtles nearing Halloween and someone suggested they all show up in costumes for the game. The Volts subsequently got their asses handed to them by a team where one of the guys wore shorty-shorts and a white cowboy hat. The 21-19 loss seemed a lot more lopsided than the score suggested. It was one of the purest happy moments ever seen at the Lions Den. Happier were the guys from Daytona when they got a link to the video which captured their first, and only win as the Turtles.

Although these didn't happen on the field, favorite moments of the Lions Den era. Koz's wedding where a great time was had by all. Followed a few years later with Aiden being born and entering the future world of being around baseball for a lifetime. Stapes first wedding ceremony officiated by none other than Richard Blatzo. A wheelback of that wedding several months later with Night II, where Mr. Blatzo once again had the honors to officiate. Jack's wedding and Ken Bingo being played by the entire team. Yours truly cashed in a big ticket that night with a Jack mention of the 04 Bravos during his speech. Zlogar's wedding up at Halas Hall.

These don't measure up to the personal triumphs of the individuals but are worth mentioning as highlights. Hitting softballs at Rebels fields during covid and having nearly the entire team show up from sheer boredom from those dark days. The Tom Emanski video from the dude in right field donating a hundred or so balls that had been whacked into his yard over a couple of seasons. Any of the countless times that Kathy and Lauren I bickered about something; most favorite being Lauren's disgust of Kathy tearing down a bird's nest at the old house.

One more week to go, and two top 5 Lions Den moments to go before we shut this thing down.

  New Lenox, IL - It's been a long time coming for the team that started in this league in 2015.  Dozens of players and non-players who were called into action have taken at-bats for the Master Batters, Gnaturals, and High Voltage. Last night was the night that everything came together and High Voltage got over the hump to win its first championship in the team's 19th season. Volts Go Hog Wild in Opener

  New Lenox, IL - Tuesday was a mix of different emotions at The Lions Den as High Voltage kicked off the 2025 season.  With the team looking to run their championship form to a third consecutive session, word on the street was released that this will be the final season played at the old ballpark before moving to the $10 Million facility a few miles up the road this fall.  With perfect weather conditions in the low 70's, High Voltage began the season with a much different look.  With the absence of Koz, Stapes, Jamaica, and Noah, the Volts began the season with a meet and greet in the dugout minutes before the contest.  The game against Hog Wild (formerly Corona) was tight all the way with both teams trading small leads until the fifth inning when the Volts batted around for seven runs to build a double-digit lead.  Pesty Hog Wild stayed in the game until the end by scoring enough runs to keep the game going but could not muster a big enough inning to clos...

Another Day in Paradise

  New Lenox, IL - It was another fine summer type weather evening at The Lions Den on Tuesday night with High Voltage taking on Paradise Bay in the 8:30 match. The visiting Volts got out to a quick start with a six spot in the first inning, and never relinquished the lead from that point.  Paradise answered back with three runs in the bottom of the first inning to cut the lead in half at 6-3.  The game totally got out of hand when the Volts scored 15 runs to take a commanding 21-3 lead.  Paradise scored another three runs to cut the deficit to 21-6 after two innings.  Each team matched a pair of runs in the third before flipping sides to start the fourth with the Volts leading 23-8.  Paradise scored one run to keep the game from ending in their at bat but High Voltage tallied in the bottom of the fourth to end the game 24-9 on run rule.  After the win, High Voltage ups its record to 2-0 for a first place tie with Transcend Realty while Paradise Bay fa...
