Brew Jays Swat Gnaturals

Image
New Lenox, IL - The Lions Den was not a friendly place for the Gnaturals on Tuesday evening as they squared off against the previously winless Brew Jays.  With temperatures in the low 50's with the wind blowing out and the infield dirt being stirred up in powder-like fashion, the Gnaturals had the unenviable task of trying to keep the Brew Jays off the win column.  After the Gnats went quietly in the top half of the first inning, the Jays put up an 8 spot to put a stranglehold on the game. The second inning wasn't much better as the Jays scored nine more runs in route to a 17 - 2 run-rule shortened beating. On the positive side, the Gnats and Brew Jays are both tied with 1-2 records in the NLMSL.  Game time on 5/31 is at 6:30PM vs Hammered.  These two teams have had some storied games over the past several regular and post seasons so come out to the ballpark to support your local heroes.  Weather is expected to be summer like. Gnaturals Rumble Past Storm Riders

Image
New Lenox, IL - The Lions Den was the setting for a wild scene this evening as the action outside the chalk was equally as good as what was played on the field.  The Storm Riders hosted the Gnaturals on a chilly evening as both teams were looking to get back to the .500 mark.  The game started out innocent enough with both teams peppering each other with some runs here and there.  The score was 11-7 entering the 5th inning when things got interesting.  Storm Riders catcher, Pudge Fish, was chirping to the Gnats all night long and that's when Arik With An A had enough and along with Jack, almost caused a bench clearing brawl.  Nobody is sure what was said between the potential combatants but the softball game nearly turned into a Hockey game of the 90's when cooler heads prevailed.  Later that inning, Jeff collided with the Riders third baseman, Will Smelton, which nearly tipped things off again.  As the third baseman was arguing for interferenc...

Beggars Delivers Loss to Gnaturals

Image
New Lenox, IL - After a rainy past few weeks in the southlands, summer weather returned to the Lions Den along with softball.  The Gnaturals were in action against Beggars in the opening match after the original opener was sleeted out a week ago.   The Gnats started out with a first inning burst to push across their first four hitters. After being blanked in the second Arik with an A scored on a Stapes fielders choice. The Gnats scored three times in the 4th inning and another pair in the 5th against Beggars starter Cheesy McSausage.  Trailing 15 - 10 heading into the bottom of the 6th inning, which would be the last due to time limit, the Gnats launched a furious rally that came up short with Ken lining out to the Beggar clumsy shortstop who had four previous errors in the game.  Gnats fell by the score of 15-14 and will try to right the ship next week at 6:30 vs Jim Morrison and the Storm Riders. Noteables: If You're Lucky, You Learn Something Every Day ...
